Chicopee - Barbara A. “Barb” (Counter) Lillis, 66, of Chicopee, and a former longtime resident of Holyoke, died at home on Saturday, March 7, 2009.  Born in Holyoke, January 25, 1943 to the late Edward F. and Margaret (Cleland) Counter of Holyoke, she was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke High School and was a homemaker.  Barbara is survived by her husband Donald Lillis, Sr.; three sons, Michael J. Lillis and his wife Cheryl of Chicopee, Robert Lillis and his fiancé Janet Watson of Chicopee, with whom she made her home, and Donald Lillis, Jr. of Holyoke, and one daughter, Cynthia M. Lillis of Holyoke; four grandsons, Daniel Lillis, Christopher Lillis, Luke Lillis all of Holyoke and Derek Lillis, of Chicopee; one sister, Judy Lefebvre and her husband Armand and one brother, John Counter and his wife Pat, all of Holyoke, a sister-in-law Suzanne T. (St. Jean) Counter of North Brunswick, New Jersey and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret E. Antaya and her brother, Edward F. Counter, Jr. There are no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040 is handling the arrangements.
