Attorney Harold Francis Brunault, J.D., beloved husband of 64 years of Paula G. (Gagliarducci) Brunault, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield at the age of eighty-eight.
Harold was born February 12, 1934, in Holyoke, MA, the son of Ernest William and Veronica K. (Barot) Brunault.
He was raised and educated in the flats of Holyoke and was a graduate of Holyoke High School, later graduated from Holyoke Community College and American International College, before receiving his Juris Doctorate in 1959 from Boston College Law School.
After passing the Bar, Harold began his lifelong career as an Attorney in Holyoke and was the city solicitor of Holyoke for thirteen years.
In his private practice he was a partner at Brunault Proulx & McGuinness.
Harold had been inducted into the St. Thomas Moore Society and had received the Hampden County Longevity in Law Award.
Among his many civic activities, Harold was a former member and past president of the Beavers Club of Western Mass and was on the Board of Trustees with Holyoke Community College and was the current president of Prolife of Pioneer Valley.
He was a longtime active parishioner of Our Lady of the Cross Church in Holyoke and was a Knight of the Holy Sepulcher.
Harold leaves behind his loving wife Paula of Holyoke, and children, Christine Laverdiere and her husband, Marc of Chicopee, Peter M. Brunault and his wife, Patty of South Hadley, Andrea McGuinness, James Brunault and his wife, Jennifer, and Philip Brunault and his wife, Sarah, all of Holyoke, eleven cherished grandchildren, Lauren, Danielle, Molly, Andrew, Matthew, Emily, Megan, Kara, Timothy, Samantha, and Josiah and four great grandchildren, Elena, Otto, Koen, and Natalia, and numerous nieces and nephews, and his other “kids” especially Grace and Annette.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his infant daughter, Johanne in 1968, brother, Ernest William Brunault, Jr. in 2017 and sister, Anita L. Busby in 2011.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, November 27, for calling hours from 2-5 p.m. at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke.
The funeral will be held on Monday, Nov. 28, beginning at 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Cross Church, Holy Cross Ave., Holyoke. Burial will be private and at a later date in Calvary Cemetery in Holyoke.
