Alice Monnette Masse

Holyoke -Alice M. (Monnette) Masse, 95, of Holyoke entered into eternal life on November 3, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, at Mount St. Vincent Care Center in Holyoke. She was the wife of the late Lester N. Masse and was born on April 19, 1921 in Chicopee to the late George and Sarah (Boutin) Monnette. Alice worked as a nurse�s aide for many years in Florida and in Massachusetts and was also employed in the floral industry. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School�s class of 1939 and was a long-time member of Immaculate Conception parish in Holyoke where she was a daily communicant and was also a member of St. Jerome parish in Holyoke. Her faith and her family were of prime importance to her throughout her lifetime. Alice is survived by eight children: Sandra DeSouza of South Hadley; Gerald Masse and wife Pamela of Tallahassee, FL; Rhea Hastings and husband Dick of Granby; Michael Masse and wife Judy of Tampa, FL; James Masse and wife Joni of Athol; Roger Masse of Holyoke; Suzanne Koske and husband Richard of Chicopee; and Mary Alice Boudreau and husband Russell of South Hadley. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a sister, Claire LeBaron of Port Orange, FL, 3 nieces, a nephew, and cousins. In addition to her husband Lester, Alice was predeceased by a grandson, David Masse, son-in-law Russell DeSouza, and sister Rhea Gravel. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 4-7pm at the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton Street Holyoke, MA 01040. Funeral services for Alice will begin on Wednesday at 9:30AM from Messier�s and be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic Church in South Hadley. Interment will follow at 1PM at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Memorial donations may be made to Mt.
