Alice A. Guimond

Alice Aline “Ally” Guimond, of Easthampton and former longtime resident of Holyoke, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst, at the age of 98.
Ally was born on June 26, 1924, in South Hadley, MA, a daughter of Leo and Rose (Desjardins) Guimond.
She was raised and educated in Holyoke and graduated from Holyoke High School, later receiving her bachelor’s degree and class Valedictorian from American International College, master’s from the University of Illinois and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin.
Alice was a Professor at several University’s and colleges that included the University of Massachusetts, Holyoke Community College, and State University of New York in Albany.
During WW II, she obtained her pilots license and served under the local civil air defense.
Ally was known by family and friends as being feisty and very contemporary for her time.
She was a lover of the arts and animals, especially cats and dogs that she would rescue from the MSPCA.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her four siblings and most recently by her dog Squeaky, a Pomeranian Chihuahua that she adored.
She leaves her grandnephew, Gregory Seymour of Easthampton and several other extended family members, including Brenda Gendron.
