Tribute
Albertine “Paula” Gelinas peacefully passed away
Thursday, February 24, surrounded by family and
devoted caregivers at Keystone Commons, Ludlow.
She enjoyed her 100th birthday celebration on
September 5, 2021.
Paula was born in Normandy, France. She met her
husband during WWII. They were married in her
small town of Poilley, France on October 1, 1945.
She emigrated to America in 1946 and settled
in Holyoke, MA later moving to Granby.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband,
Edmund Roger Gelinas, son Roger Gelinas,
brothers Albert and Pierre VanBelle,
Sister Henrietta McVemba and parents
Victorine and Leopold VanBelle.
She leaves her son John Gelinas and wife
Pat, daughter Michelle Gelinas and husband Justin,
daughter Jaqueline Perrot and husband Ed,
8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and
2 great, great grandchildren. She is survived
by her sister Odette Dardenne, Sister-in-law
Theresa VanBelle and several nieces, nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday, March 3 at
9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Messier Funeral Home, 1944
Northampton Street, Holyoke MA, followed by
a funeral mass at at 11:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church,
256, State St., Granby MA.
Burial will be private at the convenience of
the family.
