Shirley A. Scott 1939-2014 SOUTH HADLEY- Shirley A. (Benway) Scott, 75, passed away surrounded by family on August 8, 2014 at Holyoke Health Care Center. Shirley was born on June 27, 1939 in Ludlow to the late Merrill and Lauria Benway. She graduated from Ludlow High School in 1957. She married Ralph B. Scott on October 17, 1958 and spent over 33 loving years together until his passing in March of 1992. Shirley continued her education later on in life at Dean Vocational School in 1983 for Nursing. Shirley was a LPN at various nursing homes in the area for many years. Shirley was a member of the former Falls Congregational Church and was a current member of the Second Baptist Church, both in South Hadley. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Merrill and Rene Benway. Shirley is survived by two sons, Merrill Scott and his wife Kathy of South Hadley, and Michael Scott and his wife Brenda of Windsor Locks, CT; four daughters, Maureen Peters and her husband Michael of South Hadley, Linda Casey and her husband Philip of Granby, Karen McGuinness and her wife Eraine of Berkley, MA, and Newth Healy and her husband Michael of South Hadley; eleven grandchildren of which were her pride and joy; one sister Virginia Craven; and several nieces and nephews. Services for Shirley will be Friday, August 15th at 11 AM at the Second Baptist Church, 589 Granby Rd, South Hadley. Calling hours will be from 4-8 PM at Messier Funeral Home on Thursday August 14th, on 1944 Northampton St, Holyoke. Burial will be private at the family�s convenience.
