    Michael D. Kerkhoff

    October 22, 1964 - April 3, 2022

Michael D. Kerkhoff 1964 – 2022 Holyoke – Michael David Kerkhoff, 57, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday April 3, 2022, at Holyoke Medical Center. Born in Holyoke to Edwin and Clara L. (Dwyer) Kerkhoff, he was a longtime Holyoke resident. He is survived by his two children, Alexander Kerkhoff and his wife Victoria of East Brookfield, and Mackenzie Kerkhoff of Springfield; his siblings, Daniel Kerkhoff and his wife Kathleen of Chicopee, Nancy Clark and her husband Bill of Vermont and Kathleen Kochapski and her husband Stanley of Florence; his beloved granddaughter, Everly Kerkhoff; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Randy Goldberg. Michael was a graduate of Holyoke High School and was employed as a water meter reader for the Holyoke Water Department for many years. Mike took great pride in being a member of the Auxiliary Police in Holyoke and enjoyed his membership with the 413 Cornhole League of Western Mass. Mike was also a member of the United Methodist Church of South Hadley. Michael loved spending time with his family and friends and was always there to help anyone who needed him. He was an energetic, larger than life character who had so much joy and love to share with the people in his life. He was always ready for an adventure such as going for hikes, spontaneous trips, or running a race. Michael would run the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Road Race each year with his son. Michael also loved spending time with his granddaughter, “Miss Everly”, and playing hide and seek with his beloved grand-pup, Jax. Michael’s laugh and smile will be remembered by many. Family and friends are invited to meet for calling hours on Thursday April 7th, 2022, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St. in Holyoke with a 7:00 p.m. service in the funeral home. A committal service will be on Friday April 8th, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Forestdale Cemetery, 304 Cabot. St. in Holyoke. All are asked to meet directly at the cemetery on Friday morning. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Michael’s memory to the Make a Wish foundation.
