Tribute Holyoke- Mary E. Mitchell, 65, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Wednesday, July 24, 2019. Mary was born in the Bronx on January 24, 1954 a daughter of the late Russell and Dorothy (Dione) Mitchell.  She worked for many years as a CNA for several nursing facilities where she gave of herself to others. She was a faithful catholic and served for many years as a Eucharistic minister at St. Pius X in Norfolk, VA. Mary’s pride and joy was taking care of her children, grandchildren and extended family and enjoyed gardening. Mary and her family lived in many places over the years and one of her favorite places to visit was the Mohawk Trail in Charlemont, MA. Mary will be missed by her children, Russell Mitchell and his wife Tawana, Rose-lyn Kiniel and her husband Shannon, Kurt Bennett and Laura, Temika Bennett Key and her husband Kevin, Elaine Cooper and her husband Samuel, and Dawn Bennett, her stepchildren, Forrest Mitchell, Troy Mitchell, Tyrone Bennett, Tommie Bennett, Taran Bennett, and George Bennett. She will also be missed by her lifelong friend and soulmate Abraham Bennett as well as her 26 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She also is survived by her siblings Gail, Wanda, Antonia, Dottie, Kurt, and Dimas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Mary was predeceased by four siblings Rita, Charmaine, Wendy, and Ralph Mitchell. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 8:00AM -9:15AM at Messier Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM at the Blessed Sacrament Church.
