Loraine Zimmerman

South Hadley�Loraine Zimmerman, 81, died Sunday January 27, 2013 at Wingate in South Hadley. She was born in Holyoke on February 1, 1931 the youngest of fifteen children, of the late Rodolphe and Mathilda Fournier. She attended South Hadley schools and later received a degree in Business from Holyoke Community College. She started her work career at Mount Holyoke College and later worked at National Blank Book Company. Loraine retired from Mass Mutual Company where she worked in annuities and pensions. She was a long time Holyoke resident and a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. Loraine was an avid card player and enjoyed many years of friendship with the St. Rose de Lima Monday Seniors. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Henry Zimmerman. She is survived by her brother, Roger �Tony� Fournier of Granby and a sister, Doris LaBonte of Ft. Myers, FL. She leaves to cherish her memory, her 3 sons, James and his wife Kay of Chester; Mark and his wife Catherine A. of Chicopee; Robert and his wife Catherine M. of Chicopee; 2 daughters, Christine and her husband Marcel Pouliot of Springfield; and Joan and her husband Dino Torchia of Becket. She will be sadly missed by her 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday January 31, 2013 from 4-7 PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040. Her funeral will begin on Friday February 1, 2013 at 8:45 AM from the funeral home and be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton St., Holyoke. The Rite of Committal and Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley. If friends desire, memorial donations in Loraine�s name may be made to a charity of one�s choice.
