Tribute KENNETH H. YOUNG 1926-2019 CHICOPEE- Kenneth H. Young, 92, son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Gerhardt) Young and step-son of the late M. Miller passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Willimansett Center West. Ken grew up in the Willimansett section of Chicopee and later proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. He operated the Y Beauty Salon in Chicopee as a hairdresser for many years. He later met the love of his life, Marcel Breault, and together they owned the KenMars Jewelry and Antique Store in Chicopee. Marcel and Ken were married on August 24, 2004, and Marcel predeceased him on February 16, 2011. Ken was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Holyoke. He loved singing, cocktails, playing cards, and caring for his poodles and Yorkshire Terriors. He will be dearly missed by his nieces, Cynthia Strange of Chicopee; Dorcas Mueller and husband John of South Carolina; his nephews, Robert Krieger and wife Dorothy of Agawam; Ralph Young and his wife Carol of Michigan; as well as many great nieces and nephews of the Young family. He also leaves his sister-in-law Pauline Bauer of Chicopee and many members of the Breault family. He was predeceased by his sisters Elizabeth and Lydia, his brothers William, Rev. Ralph, and Paul, and a nephew Donald Krieger. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 4-7PM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA. A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 10AM in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
