Josephine L. Laferriere 1937-2009 Josephine Lucille (Lowell) Laferriere, 72, of Granby, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2009 in Holyoke Medical Center. Born in Wolcott, VT, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Iris E. (Wheeler) Lowell. Josephine was a retired (47) year machine operator for Westvaco Co. of Springfield. She retired in 1998. Josephine was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Granby. She loved camping especially at Lake Memphremgog in Newport, VT and cherished her canine companion Rusty. Josephine was predeceased by her husband, Donald Laferriere in 2004. She leaves her beloved children, Deborah L. Piquette and her husband Mark of Chicopee, Donald Laferriere, Jr., and his wife Sharon of Belchertown, Charles J. Laferriere of Granby, Lisa M. Sawicki of Chicopee; a sister, Patricia Prevost of Southwick; five grandchildren, Mark and Jeremy Shlosser, Jamie and Justin Laferriere and Kyle Sawicki; two great grandchildren, Rachel Shlosser and Nathan Shlosser and a dear family friend James Lashway of Granby. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 in the Messier Funeral Home 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
