JONATHAN D. EMERY, SR1948 - 2016Jonathan Damien Emery, Sr., 67, of Ft. Washington, MD, passed on July 11, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Myrtle and William Emery, Sr.He grew up in Philadelphia, PA and was educated at St. Thomas Moore High School in Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of the United States Air Force, his career spanned 24 years. He also worked 20 years for the Defense Intelligence Agency in the print shop. Jonathan met and married Bess Jean Emery on March 20, 1971. John was a dedicated family-man that enjoyed bowling, officiating and the Philadelphia Eagles. He was an avid sports fan and always supported his Philadelphia teams with great gusto. He was a man that loved to be in charge and never more than when he was running the show as an official on the court or field or as the secretary for his beloved Friday night bowling league. He truly enjoyed working with and for the officials and bowlers. John also enjoyed spending time with his family in Philadelphia, PA Galveston, TX and Holyoke, MA. He liked nothing more than being around his family during the holiday season or familial celebrations. He believed in the power of family and always supported his whenever needed.Beloved husband of the late Bess Emery; devoted father of Tonia Nicole Emery of Alexandria, VA, Colby Richardson of Bowie, MD and Jonathan Damien Emery of Philadelphia, PA; loving Pop Pop of Luke Emery; dear brother of William Emery, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA and Vanessa Emery of Phoenix, AZ and the late Ricky and Curtis Emery.A graveside prayer service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11AM in Forestdale Cemetery, Cabot St., Holyoke and conclude with military honors.
