Claire F. Cavanaugh

HOLYOKE � Claire (Courchesne) Cavanaugh, 82, a lifelong resident here passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Holyoke Health Care Center. Claire was born in Holyoke on June 16, 1929 a daughter of the late Pierre and Angeline (Allie) Courchesne and graduated from Holyoke High School in 1947. She was a longtime communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and was primarily a homemaker. Previously she worked as a secretary for Texon in Holyoke for several years. She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, John F. Cavanaugh, Sr. on April 2, 1992. Claire also joins three brothers, Henry Courchesne, Maurice Courchesne, Lionel Courchesne and three sisters, Martha Blanchard, Solange Boissoneault, and Jacqueline Osburn who await her ascension to eternal rest and peace. Claire enjoyed reading, singing and providing for her family. She is survived by her son, John F. Cavanaugh, Jr. and his wife Maria of Holyoke; two daughters, Susan Hardiman and her husband Joseph of Milton, MA; Sharon Byrne and her husband Kyle of Westborough, Ma; her sister, Irene Dydek of Holyoke; three cherished grandchildren, Sarah and Willow Cavanaugh of Holyoke and John Byrne of Westborough. She will be missed by her nieces, nephews and loving extended family. Visiting will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 10 AM until 10:45 AM at Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040. A liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton St., Holyoke. The Burial and Rite of Committal will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman St., South Hadley, MA 01075.
