Managing Partner/ Licensed Funeral Director

The son of Arthur and Martha (Cathro) Usher, Michael was born and raised in Holyoke. He was educated in Holyoke at E.N. White School and John J. Lynch Jr. High School and is a proud 1989 graduate of Holyoke High School. Michael attended Holyoke Community College and later transferred to Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, New York, where he received an Associate's Degree in Mortuary Science. Michael is a nationally certified funeral director and licensed in the state of Massachusetts. His career began in Holyoke as an apprentice with the Czelusniak Funeral Homes and continued at Messier Funeral Home and Brunelle Funeral Home as a funeral director and manager. He has furthered his experience in funeral service working for several funeral homes both locally and in the Berkshires as well as working in a full service crematory. Michael now returns as the managing director of Messier and Brunelle Funeral Homes, where his family resides and his career began. "I am so pleased to return to my hometown and serve the community once again, and I hope that my 18 years of experience will be of great benefit to those who experience a loss." Michael has been involved in coaching girls soccer with the Holyoke Youth Soccer, Holyoke High School Junior Varsity Soccer, Holyoke YMCA, Tigers A.C., Pittsfield Panthers, and Wilbraham Soccer programs. Michael and his wife Cynthia (Basile) Usher have two daughters, Isabella and Maya. He is a graduate of Leadership Holyoke and a member of the Holyoke and Chicopee Chambers of Commerce. He currently coaches girls soccer at St. Catherine's Parish in Springfield and is a part-time ski coach at Killington Resort, devoting many hours to youth development.
